Dental Technology
Technologies at Our Pierrefonds Clinic
At Centre Dentaire de l'Ouest, the dental technology we use helps to inform treatment planning and make your appointments run smoothly.
We can display digital X-rays and scans on the monitors in our treatment rooms to show you any issues in your mouth, and walk you through your treatment plan.
Dental technology helps us achieve our goal of providing patients with care while making sure they are fully informed about their oral health.
Digital X-Rays
Using digital sensors instead of traditional photographic X-ray film, digital X-rays produce highly detailed computer images of the teeth and gums, as well as other oral structures and conditions. This allows your dentist to examine parts of the mouth that are not visible to the naked eye.
Panoramic X-Rays
A panoramic X-rays allow your dentist to create a single image of your entire mouth. This image is a flat representation of the teeth, upper and lower jaws, temporomandibular joints (TMJ), and the nasal and sinus structures. Panoramic X-rays are often used to help plan treatments for dentures, braces, extractions, and implants.
CEREC® Same-Day Restorations
CEREC (Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics) is a system that allows for the creation and placement of ceramic dental crowns, inlays and onlays in a single appointment. This technology helps simplify the process of restoration and helps patients benefit from efficient and practical dental services.
Dental Lasers
Lasers (focused light beams) can be used in dentistry in a variety of soft tissue procedures. They allow our dentists to perform procedures with less pain and fewer medical interventions. At Centre Dentaire de l'Ouest, our dentists use lasers to remove overgrown or decayed tissue, to reshape the gums, to harden dental restorations quickly, or to whiten teeth.
Oral Cancer Screening Device
The VELscope® is an oral cancer screening device that helps the dentist to identify abnormalities and diseases in the mouth, such as cancerous and pre-cancerous lesions. It can be performed in your dentist’s office during routine exams and under normal lighting conditions in about two minutes.
Intraoral Scanners
Digital dental impressions can be created with intraoral scanners, providing an alternative to traditional dental impressions. Your dentist simply uses an optical scanning wand to take a digital image of your teeth within minutes. This device allows your dentist to capture accurate data to create digital replicas of the hard and soft tissues of your mouth.
Cone Beam Cat Scan
Cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) is a special type of X-ray machine that generates 3D images of dental structures, soft tissues, nerve paths and bone in the craniofacial region in a single scan. Images obtained with CBCT allow for more precise treatment planning, including analyzing your airway for snoring and sleep apnea treatment.
